BAYERO AGABI

Bayero Agabi is known as Nigeria's leading ICT broadcast journalist, he remains the only African journalist to have won the prestigious UNECA/AISI (United Nations Economic Commission for Africa/Africa Information Society Media Awards) twice for best African ict reporting, research and local content. Bayero Agabi pioneered ICT on television with a programme known as AIT INFOTECH NETWORK in Nigeria now Africa's leading and most popular ICT programme on television over a decade ago in Nigeria. So far, he has won over 29 awards both local and international for his efforts at promoting ICT development on the continent. Some of his awards include Excellence Award from Association of Telecoms Operator of Nigeria, Nigeria Computer Society as Best ICT reporter for three years consecutively both on Radio and Television, Excellence Award from International Federation for Excellence, Excellence Award from Economic Students Association, UNIBEN and in December 2009 Bayero Agabi won the industry's highest award for ICT reporting AS THE BEST ICT REPORTER OF THE YEAR organized by the NIGERIA COMPUTER SOCIETY the largest computer association in Africa. Often referred to as Nigeria leading ICT broadcast journalist Bayero Agabi is the convener of Cyber Nigeria forum, ICT and the Nigerian Environment and the regional coordinator, Africa Media Trainers Network under the UNECA.

Bayero Agabi has presented papers and chaired high profiled events such as United States Embassy organised CTO Youth Forum on Entrepreneurship 2010, ICT in Education Seminar organised by Covenant University, Beyond Broadcast organized by Nigerian Television Authority, West Africa Cyber Crime Forum etc.

He has also pioneered running ventures. Agabi is a co-founder/Director Knowledge Media International, Publishers of IT Edge in English and French which has also won UNECA/AISI award www.itedgenews.com

He is also the Co - Founder/President, Tribe Media Company www.tribemediagroup.com , owners of Tribe Times Magazine and Tribe TV, Image and public communications limited IPCL media group, owners of BTE Business and Technology Edge radio and television www.btenews.com and Founder /Chairman Edge line computers. Bayero Agabi is a member of IDPM Institute of Data Processing Management Nigeria, Regional Coordinator Africa Media Trainers Network (AMINET) under UNECA, and the pioneer Secretary General JOINT ACTION COMMITTEE ON ICT AWARENESS AND DEVELOPMENT. (JACITAD). Bayero Agabi is the publisher of a pan African magazine, TRIBE TIMES MAGAZINE a medium seeking to put African affairs on front line in the global arena. He is an executive member of the School of Media and Communication of Pan-African University Alumni. Bayero Agabi is a graduate of Mass Communication from the University of Jos, Nigeria; and with a Post Graduate Diploma in Public Administration, Lagos State University, (LASU), Bayero has also undergone several trainings in broadcast journalism, television presentation, computer professional certification, and telecoms marketing with relevant organizations such as Lagos Business School, Nigeria Television College and BBC/AIT training courses. Bayero also holds a Masters Degree in Public Administration. (MPA). He is a proud member of IDPM Institute of Data Processing of Nigeria and the Nigeria Institute of Public Relations NIPR chattered. Member, Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ).

Bayero Agabi journalism career has spanned over a decade.

Starting as a film editor with Channels Television in 1993, Bayero has risen in profile to become Africa's leading ICT broadcast journalist since joining Africa Independent Television AIT in 1997, where he has coordinated various political programmes that dared the military dictators at that time. Agabi also has experience in computer graphics animation and camera operation.
