Hilary Damissah who holds a Masters degree in Public Administration (MPA) and a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Language (BA Hons) both from the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, is an immensely gifted Journalist cum writer with an insatiable crave for journalistic excellence. He possesses a knack for very thorough and expressive use of the English Language coupled with a rear ability to deploy the aesthetics of language for effective communication. In 2010, he wrote his first full length novel entitled; Nemesis At Cross Road .
He presently sits on the Editorial Board of Tribe Media Company where he oversees the company's print medium as the Editor of Tribe Times magazine, a mainly Afro-centric publication aimed at celebrating the richness of African tribes and her people in Diaspora. Its focus is to promote African history, her enormous socio-cultural heritage and natural endowment so as to evolve a culture to promote values for growth and progress in all spheres of African renaissance.
Hilary Damissah is the co-initiator and coordinator of the Ghana/Nigeria Culture Showcase , (GHANIGCUS) the first privately organised bilateral arts and cultural forum in West Africa which has now transmuted into a full regional event as West Africa Arts & Culture Showcase, (WAACS).
As the Editor, he has helped in defining and executing an editorial direction and reshaping the editorial depth of Tribe Times , while creating a pan-African readership and advertorial support for the magazine. Thus, he has successfully helped in repackaging the magazine strategically making it an authoritative voice filling the void in the hitherto, under reportage of African arts, culture, fashion, music, tourism and African destinations. Besides, within a short time, Hilary Damissah has also helped to evolve a new print medium, Cyber Africa News which is an offshoot of the company's television programme, Cyber Africa on Kakaaki on African Independent Television .
Is journalism career has spanned well over a decade. He was a Senior Reporter with The Royal International Magazine before moving on to become the founding General Editor of Elation Magazine . He has participated in some international conferences the most recent of which are; Conference for Democracy and Good Governance in Africa, Accra 2010, International Conference on Global Africans, Pan-Africanism, Decolonisation and Integration of Africa: Past, Present and Future, Abuja 2010 and Samsung Forum, Nairobi 2011. He is a member of Nigerian Union of Journalists , a member of PEN , Association of Nigerian Authors and the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria .
